As mental health and mental illness have become an ever present topic in our daily lives, the TRIG HRMAC Committee would like to assemble a diverse panel who will tackle this topic from a legal, professional, and HR Practitioner Perspective as it relates to the employee experience and internal employee benefits strategy.



  Eileen M Tarjan is Principal, EMTconnects LLC, an independent talent development and training consulting firm in the Chicagoland area. Eileen is a dynamic professional with 20 years of proven success in human resources, talent development and coaching.  Beyond what you can read in her resume and LinkedIn profile, Eileen will tell you that the most rewarding part of her life is creating and maintaining relationships and helping people achieve their goals. Working with Eileen gives you immediate access to her positive attitude, adventurous spirit, and proven strategies to deliver the results you need. 

Eileen’s curiosity keeps her on the hunt for opportunities to explore, grow and stretch both professionally and personally. She received her bachelor’s degree from National-Louis University and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University. Eileen holds certifications with Center for Creative Leadership, SHRM Diversity, ATD and she is an authorized partner of Engagement Multiplier. Eileen actively leads in several professional organizations throughout the Chicagoland area.


Julie Bronsteatter, Director of Human Resources at The Second City

Julie Bronsteatter is the Director of Human Resources for The Second City overseeing the Chicago, LA and Toronto offices. Having spent most of her early career in advertising as an account manager, Julie brings a unique perspective to the HR industry, especially to The Second City (#process #process #process). She is responsible for strategic talent management, HR operations, employee relations, training and development and benefits and compliance. Julie graduated from Winona State University in 2004 and received her PHR in 2017. Julie joined The Second City in March, 2018.  


Maya Bordeaux, Chief HR and Communications Officer at Tribune Publishing

Maya A. Bordeaux is Chief Human Resources & Communications Officer of Tribune Publishing. In her role, Bordeaux oversees all people strategies and programs, as well as all internal and external communications. She leads a national team who provides HR and Communications services to over 4,500 employees across the company’s various national markets. Prior to joining Tribune, Ms. Bordeaux held the position of Senior Vice President, People & Culture for Wilton Brands LLC. Ms. Bordeaux has previously held HR leadership positions with other reputable brands, to include McDonald’s Corporation, NorthShore University HealthSystem and University of Chicago Medical Center.  Ms. Bordeaux dedicates a significant amount of her time to public service, serving as a volunteer and has served as Director on several non-profit boards, as well as provides pro bono legal counsel. She is also an accomplished motivational speaker. Ms. Bordeaux holds a Juris Doctor degree and Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola University Chicago, and a Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree from San Diego State University.


Neil Dishman, Attorney at Jackson Lewis

Neil H. Dishman is a Principal in the Chicago, Illinois, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. His business is helping employers prevent and resolve disputes with their employees.  Mr. Dishman helps employers reduce risk and minimize legal costs by giving advice on difficult personnel decisions before litigation ensues. When litigation is unavoidable, he helps employers protect their assets and reputations by vigorously and efficiently defending them from employee lawsuits. Mr. Dishman counsels and defends employers on a wide spectrum of issues, including race, sex, age, religion, national origin, disability and sexual-orientation discrimination; sexual harassment; retaliatory discharge; Family and Medical Leave; and wage-hour compliance.  He assists employers in a wide variety of industries, with particular experience in the real-estate, non-profit, manufacturing, and health-care fields. Mr. Dishman has jury-trial experience and is a member of the Trial Bar of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.



This program is pending approval for 1.5 credit hours towards PHR/SPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) as well as 1.5 professional development credits (PDC's) toward SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP certification.
